THEY NEVER FUNDED THE WORK
There is something I need everybody to understand about money.
Because I have accidentally run this experiment too.
I GOT MORE MONEY WHEN I KNEW LESS.
Read that again.
There was a period of my life when I had nowhere near the engineering ability I have now.
I had not built Receiz.
I had not built portable identity.
I had not built proof-native objects.
I had not built offline verification.
I had not built a deterministic temporal system.
I had not built memory that survives the model.
I had not spent years removing dependencies from systems until the machine could disappear and the object could continue.
I had not shipped this body of work.
I had not accumulated this evidence.
I had relationships.
Introductions.
Access.
That was enough.
People wrote checks.
Sometimes they barely interrogated the underlying mechanics.
They didn’t need thousands of tests.
They didn’t need years of releases.
They didn’t need a verifier.
They didn’t need a working protocol.
They didn’t need me to demonstrate an entirely new infrastructure stack.
They knew somebody.
Somebody knew me.
The introduction carried social permission.
And money moved.
Then I became dramatically more capable.
I learned how to actually build.
Not pitch.
Not network.
Not stand beside the right person at the right party.
BUILD.
I spent years turning ideas into machines.
I learned architecture.
Cryptography.
State.
Identity.
Authority.
Succession.
Verification.
Temporal ordering.
Offline operation.
Portability.
Continuity.
I built the fucking things.
And somehow the better I became at producing independently verifiable work, the less relevant that became to the machinery that allocates resources.
Do you understand how fucking insane that is?
Because I do.
THE SYSTEM WAS NEVER MEASURING WHAT IT CLAIMED TO MEASURE.
It says it funds talent.
Then why did I have easier access to money when there was less evidence of mine?
It says it funds execution.
Then why were introductions sufficient before execution existed?
It says capital discovers exceptional builders.
Okay.
Here I am.
Remove my name.
Remove my personality.
Remove whether you like how I speak.
Remove every fucking social variable.
Put the inputs on one side.
Put the outputs on the other.
MEASURE IT.
How many resources entered?
What came out?
That’s it.
Do it to everybody.
Do it to me.
Do it to Silicon Valley.
Do it to Hollywood.
Do it to venture capital.
Do it to universities.
Do it to corporations.
Do it to foundations.
Do it to governments.
I don’t want special treatment.
I WANT THE FUCKING SCOREBOARD.
How much did you receive?
What did you produce?
What new capability exists because you received it?
What dependency did you eliminate?
What became cheaper?
What became stronger?
What became portable?
What became independently verifiable?
What can humanity still use if your company disappears tomorrow?
Now the money itself stops being impressive.
You raised $100 million?
Cool.
That’s an input.
You raised $1 billion?
Input.
You control $50 billion?
INPUT.
Stop showing me the size of the fuel tank.
SHOW ME HOW FAR THE FUCKING MACHINE MOVED.
Because once you measure output against resources consumed, something extremely uncomfortable happens.
The person with fewer resources who produces more stops looking underfunded because he lacks evidence.
He starts looking underfunded because the allocation system is bad at its fucking job.
That’s the indictment.
Not that somebody didn’t pick me.
I don’t need to build a mythology around rejection.
The experiment is sitting right there.
I have lived both conditions.
I have experienced access without the capability I possess today.
And I have experienced capability without equivalent access.
Guess which version of me was easier for the system to understand?
The one with the introductions.
🤣
ARE YOU FUCKING SERIOUS?
Then stop telling me this is a meritocracy.
Stop telling builders capital naturally finds excellence.
Stop pointing at somebody’s funding round as evidence that they are extraordinary.
You haven’t shown me extraordinary.
YOU SHOWED ME THAT SOMEBODY GAVE THEM MONEY.
Those are two completely different facts.
And civilization has confused them for so long that people literally use the amount of resources somebody was GIVEN as evidence of how capable the recipient must be.
That’s backwards.
The more resources you received, the more evidence I should demand from you.
The denominator got bigger.
$10,000 and you built something remarkable?
Interesting.
$10 million?
Show me more.
$1 billion?
You better have moved a fucking frontier.
$50 billion?
Don’t show me a keynote.
SHOW ME WHAT HUMANITY CAN DO NOW THAT IT COULD NOT DO BEFORE YOU CONSUMED FIFTY BILLION DOLLARS.
That is the accounting.
And yes:
APPLY IT TO ME.
Please.
That’s the part I don’t think people understand.
I WANT THE TEST.
I want my resources written beside my output.
I want my claims beside executable artifacts.
I want the machine turned off.
I want somebody hostile to the claim trying to break the thing.
I want the experiment repeated.
Because I’m not asking society to replace one priesthood with another and declare me the new priest.
I’m saying:
GET RID OF THE FUCKING PRIESTHOOD.
Measure.
Test.
Compare inputs to outputs.
Then allocate the next resources based on what reality says happened.
And if somebody consistently turns very little into very much?
There is an obvious experiment available.
GIVE THEM MORE MATERIAL.
Not because they’re famous.
Not because they’re connected.
Not because somebody important had dinner with them.
Not because a prestigious fund already invested.
Not because everybody is terrified of being the only person in the room who doesn’t recognize the newest fashionable word.
Because you have an observed conversion function sitting directly in front of you.
Resources went in.
Artifacts came out.
Now increase the input.
MEASURE AGAIN.
That’s what NOW RUN THE OTHER EXPERIMENT means.
It isn’t:
Believe in me.
It isn’t:
I deserve money.
It isn’t:
Please recognize my genius.
Fuck all of that.
It is much colder.
YOU HAVE DATA.
USE IT.
And if your civilization repeatedly gives enormous resources to people with enormous social validation while leaving demonstrated builders constrained, don’t call the outcome mysterious.
Your allocation mechanism selected for the thing it actually measures.
Relationships.
Familiarity.
Permission.
Consensus.
Career safety.
Then everybody stands around ten years later wondering why hundreds of billions of dollars produced so little durable infrastructure.
🤣
YOU SELECTED FOR SOMETHING ELSE.
That’s the joke.
And I know because I got to see both sides of it.
When I had less evidence, introductions opened doors.
Now?
I can put the artifacts on the fucking table.
So I’m done asking the old question:
WHY WON’T THEY FUND ME?
I have a much more interesting one.
WHAT EXACTLY IS YOUR CAPITAL ALLOCATION SYSTEM MEASURING IF THE VERSION OF ME WITH LESS DEMONSTRATED CAPABILITY WAS EASIER TO FUND THAN THE VERSION THAT ALREADY BUILT THE FUCKING THING?
Answer that.
Because that question isn’t really about me anymore.
It’s about you.
Your funds.
Your institutions.
Your incentives.
Your civilization.
And the staggering amount of human possibility you may have left sitting on the floor because the person holding it didn’t arrive through the correct introduction.
I already ran one experiment.
You have the output.
Now stop confusing access with ability.
Stop confusing capital raised with value created.
Stop confusing consensus with evidence.
PUT THE RESOURCES NEXT TO THE RESULTS.
Then run the other fucking experiment.
