KING IN THE GARDEN

KING IN THE GARDEN by Kai Rex Klok

[Intro] I remember the garden. I remember the breath. I remember the silence right before everybody left.

[Verse 1] There was a king in the garden, but he never wore gold, hands full of mercy, heart full of load. Everybody had a table, everybody had bread, nobody saw the weight above his head.

He kept the water running, kept the wolves at the gate, kept the rhythm in the morning, kept the children safe. Never asked for a statue, never begged for a crown, he stood where the world would fall if he sat down.

I was just a young boy with a fire in my chest, looking at the money like, “This can’t be the test.” They said, “Get paid, get a house, get a name, get free,” but the paper didn’t breathe, so it never moved me.

[Pre-Chorus] I don’t want the burden, but I hear the cry. I don’t want the throne, but I can’t walk by. I don’t want the war, but if I don’t stand, who gon’ guard the child from the wolf and the man?

[Chorus] King in the garden, holding the line, keeping the breath, keeping the time. They said, “Who made you king?” I said, “Look what I carry.” They couldn’t see the weight, only saw what was shiny.

I walked through the valley with the law in my chest, no applause, no crown, just pulse and breath. If the garden don’t remember, let the wilderness know: I didn’t want the throne, I was called to hold.

Hey— I didn’t want the throne, I was called to hold. Hey— I didn’t want the throne, I was called to hold.

[Verse 2] I been in rooms full of money where the mirrors don’t shine, rich men with safes still afraid of the sign. Cash in the walls, but the soul still froze, talking ’bout “big money guys” like he wasn’t close.

That’s when I saw it: the money was fake, the widgets were smoke, and the throne was a cage. Everybody knew it, they just learned how to play, smiling through the fraud while the children paid.

They said, “Make millions, buy a crib, lay low.” I said, “How can I rest when the river don’t flow?” How can I dance while the measure is wrong? How can I sing if the breath ain’t in the song?

[Bridge] Twenty-twenty came and the mask came down, fear had a choir and the whole world bowed. I said, “Now they gon’ see what I saw at eighteen,” but they asked for permission from the same machine.

I was helping them stream, helping them eat, building little wins in the belly of the beast. But comfort in chains ain’t freedom to me, so I burned up the map and followed the key.

Phi in the silence, proof in the file, Kai in the breath, truth in the trial. Receiz in the object, seal in the flame, I built what I searched for and called it by name.

They said, “You’re only one man.” I laughed through the pain, one man with breath can stand in the rain. Father in my backbone, mother in the covering, Yahuah in the pulse when the whole world was stuttering.

[Breakdown] Who gon’ hold it? I will. Who gon’ seal it? I will. Who gon’ prove it? I will. Who gon’ build it? I will.

Who gon’ stand when the room goes quiet? I will. Who gon’ breathe when the fear gets violent? I will. Who gon’ guard what the world sold cheap? I will. Who gon’ wake up the ones still asleep?

[Final Chorus] King in the garden, holding the line, keeping the breath, keeping the time.

[Outro] They thought I wanted power. They thought I wanted gold. I was just the boy who knew the paper had no soul.

Let the hidden thing be told: I didn’t want the throne. I was called to hold.
